Shooting incident, North Belfast

A 23 year old man has been taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg following an incident in North Belfast this evening, Monday 12 October.  The man is alleged to have been bundled into a small red van on Ardoyne Avenue by two males wearing balaclavas.

He was driven to an entry off Highbury Gardens were he was shot once in the lower right leg.  His attackers are believed to have made off along Berwick Road.

The incident was reported to Police shortly after 7.30pm.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area around this time or anyone with information to contact them at Antrim Road 0845 600 8000.  Alternatively, information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
