Attempted Abduction, South Belfast

Police in South Belfast are appealing for information following an attempted abduction in the Roden Street area on Thursday, 10 September.
At approximately 6.40pm an eight year old boy was playing in the area of Iverna Close / Roden Street when a green coloured vehicle pulled up alongside him. The male driver opened the door and offered the boy sweets which were declined. The man then grabbed the boy by the arms and tried to get him into the car. Another young boy in the area intervened and the man fell to the ground. Both boys made off on their bikes to their homes.
The male driver is described as being bald, in his 30s, appx 5ft 10in with a cut to the right side of his neck and a brown goatee. He was wearing a black jacket with a zip and hood, black jeans and yellow Timberland boots.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or has information relating to it to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Information about crime can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
