Serious assault, Holywood

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in the Firmount Crescent area of Holywood in the early hours of this morning, Saturday 12 September.
Just before 12.40am it was reported that up to 5 men, dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas, forced their way into a property before attacking a male with baseball bats and pickaxe handles. The man, who's in his early 40's, sustained serious injuries to his head and a leg. He's described as being in a serious condition in hospital. Another male who was in the house at the time, was struck on the knee. He did not require hospital treatment.
It is thought the attackers left the scene in a blue coloured BMW vehicle.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident, or who may have seen a vehicle similar to the one described in the Firmount Crescent area, to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information can be passed annymously via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
