Dangerous road incidents

09 Apr 2010

Officers from the PSNI’s Road Policing Branch are investigating a number of highly dangerous incidents on the roads between Belfast and Portrush on Thursday (8 April). At least six reports have been received of cars being struck by eggs thrown from a blue coloured vehicle. At least one vehicle had a windscreen broken. In one incident on the M2 Motorway an attempt was made to throw an egg at the driver of a vehicle through an open window.

It is believed that the offending vehicle travelled from the Newtownards area, along the M3 and M2 motorways and along Frosses Road towards Portrush.

Police have condemned those responsible for the incidents which could easily have caused a collision resulting in serious injury or fatalities.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who may have been the victim of a similar incident on any of the roads between Newtownards and Portrush on Thursday to contact them at Road Policing, Antrim on 0845 600 8000.
