Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a suspicious fire at a building in the Cornmarket area in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 13 April.
At approximately 3am, police received a report of a fire at the building, which includes a shop and flats. Emergency Services attended the scene and a number of residents were evacuated. A number of them were taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.
Detectives are treating this fire as arson and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them at Newry police station on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
