Police officers attacked, West Belfast

Three police officers were injured during disorder on the Falls Road around 1.30am this morning (Sunday).

It is understood that a crowd of around fifty people had emerged from a bar which police were checking for breaches of licensing laws. The crowd initially pelted the officers with glasses and bottles before attacking them. Two officers were punched to the head; one was struck with a glass. None of the injuries are serious. Police were forced to use CS spray during the incident to protect themselves.

There were no arrests however enquiries are continuing to identify those involved.
