Armed robbery Cash in Transit van, Mallusk

Police in Newtownabbey are investigating armed robbery of a cash in transit van at a bank on the Mallusk Road Mallusk shortly after 9am this morning (Tuesday 20 April).
Three unknown men, one of whom was armed with a handgun approached the security guard and threatened him with the weapon before making off with a substantial sum of money in the direction of the Hightown road.
The armed robber is described as 6ft tall, of slim build, and a florescent jacket. The security guard was unhurt but shaken by his ordeal.
A red Skoda Felicia was recovered abandoned at a local sports club on the Mallusk road a short time later.
Anyone who witnessed the robbery or the car being abandoned is asked to contact detectives at Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
