Assault, Banbridge

Police are appealing for information following an assault on the Rathfriland Road, Banbridge, County Down, around 1.30am on Tuesday 6 April.

It is understood that a man was punched from behind and then punched to the side of the face, causing him to fall to the ground where he was repeatedly kicked by a number of assailants.

It is believed that the attackers may have left the area on a bus which was being used by people from nearby licensed premises.

Police are keen to speak to a man who came to the victim’s aid after the attack and helped him to his feet.

The victim is understood to have suffered bruising to his upper body and face.
