Security alert, Central Fire Station, Belfast

Shortly after 10.30pm on Tuesday 13 April police were made aware of a telephone call received by the NIFRS claiming a device had been left in the area of Central Fire Station in Belfast.
The station at Bankmore Street was evacuated and a search of the area was carried out by police. A suspicious object was subsequently located close to the exit to the station.
ATO was tasked to examine the object and cordons were put in place on both sides of the station at Ormeau Road and Ormeau Avenue.
A controlled explosion was carried out by ATO and the object was found to be an elaborate hoax.
All cordons were lifted at approximately 2am.
