Robbery, Newtownabbey

04 Apr 2010

Detectives are investigating a robbery at a house on Ballycraigy Road South, Newtownabbey late last night. It is understood that a man living in the house was confronted on the stairs by a male brandishing a meat cleaver shortly after 10pm. He was accompanied by another man carrying a chisel. The occupant was told to move to a nearby bedroom where the first man remained with him. It is understood that the second man made his way downstairs where he was heard talking to another man. The occupant was then brought downstairs where he was told to hand over a quantity of cash. The men then made off from the house in a vehicle.

Police are appealing for information about the incident and are particularly keen to trace the occupants of a short wheelbase, light grey coloured 4x4 vehicle seen in the area earlier on Saturday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000.
