Schoolgirl assaulted, north Belfast

Police in north Belfast are investigating an assault on a 14 year old girl on Wednesday afternoon.  It is understood that the girl was walking home from school when she was approached by a man in Gray’s Lane at 3.30pm.  The man grabbed her and tried to pull her into nearby bushes.  The girl managed to break free and make her way home.  She was not injured during the incident.

The man is described as approximately 50 years old, grey balding hair, short grey beard and spoke with a local accent.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area around this time and saw a man fitting this description or anyone who can help identify this man to contact detectives at Antrim Road on 0845 600 8000.  Alternatively, information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
