Paramilitary style assault Strule Gardens Derry

Detective in Derry are appealing for information following an assault on a man in his twenties in the early hours of this morning (Sat 14 Aug).
Around 2am the man was in the Strule Gardens area close to Irish Street Waterside when he was approached by three unknown males in balaclavas who were carrying golf clubs and a hammer. The man was taken to hospital with an injury to his head and suspected broken hands.
Anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information is asked to contact detectives at Strand road on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
A motive has yet to be established but a paramilitary style attack is one line of enquiry.
