Paramilitary style assault, East Belfast

A 22 year old man has been taken to hospital following a paramilitary style assault in the Glenmore Street area of East Belfast in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 20 February).
Shortly before 1am a number of men wearing balaclavas and armed with a hammer and baseball bats forced there way into the house. They attacked the man with the weapons and his 23 year old friend also received a minor head injury in the altercation, although he did not require hospital treatment.
Anyone who noticed any activity in the area overnight or who may have any information regarding the assault is asked to contact police in East Belfast on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
