Aggravated burglary, School Road, Killeen, Newry

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary of a house in the Killeen School Road area late last night (Friday 22 January).
Shortly after 11:30pm two masked men, one armed with a weapon believed to be a handgun or starting pistol, forced their way into the house. A round was discharged from the weapon during an altercation with the householder who sustained a broken hand. His wife sustained a small head injury and both received treatment in hospital for their injuries. Their 11 year old daughter who was also in the house at the time was uninjured but badly shaken by the ordeal.
The burglars made off with a sum of money and the family car, a black Volkswagen Passat.
