Aggravated burglary, South Belfast

Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in the Erinvale Gardens area of south Belfast.

At around 7.20pm on Wednesday 6 January a man, thought to be aged in his teens, entered the home of an older couple.

A struggle ensued between the intruder and the couple, during which the male and female householders were struck on the head with an object, possibly a bat.

The intruder fled empty-handed from the property and was seen leaving the area with three other persons.  The male and female were taken to hospital and were treated for injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.
