Armed robbery, East Belfast

Detectives are investigating following a robbery at an off-licence in Summer Hill Avenue, Belfast yesterday afternoon (30 June). At approximately 2.40pm a lone male entered the premises and produced a black handgun and a black bin bag. He demanded that cigarettes and a bottle of vodka be placed in the bin bag and also demanded cash from the till.

The man made off to a waiting white coloured car, with two males on board, which was parked in Barnett’s Road. The vehicle drove off in the direction of King’s Road. The car was found on fire shortly before midnight on Wednesday night at Braeside Grove in the Braniel estate.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident at Summerhill Avenue or the abandoned car to contact detectives at Musgrave Street on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
