Distraction burglary, Dungannon
10 Jul 2010
Detectives are appealing for information about a distraction burglary at Caledon, outside Dungannon.
Shortly before 1pm on Saturday 10 July, a man called at the home of a woman aged in her 80s at Knockaginny Road.
While he spoke to the householder at her front door, claiming to be from the "electric board", another two entered the house and removed a sum of cash.
The men were leaving the scene in a car, driven by a fourth person, when a male neighbour intervened by driving a van into the path of the car.
The thieves - one of whom produced a knife at this point - surrounded the van and threatened the man before moving the van off the road and making their escape in the car, a grey Peugeot 407.
There were no injuries.
One of the men is described as 5'8, of stout build and was wearing smart casual clothing and a flat cap. Two of the men had strong Republic of Ireland accents, one had an English accent.
