Serious sexual assault Strand Road Derry

Detectives from the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault in the Strand Road area of Derry between Saturday, 10 July and Sunday, 11 July.
It is understood that the 17 year old female victim had been on a night out with friends and left a local licensed premises with an unknown male around 11:30pm on Saturday. Shortly before 1am on Sunday morning an ambulance was called when the girl returned to her friends in the area of the licensed premises in a distressed and dishevelled state. The girl was taken to hospital for examination.
The alleged assailant is described as in his 20s, around 5ft 11in tall with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue and black checked shirt and had swarthy skin.
