Houses attacked, South Belfast

Detectives in South Belfast are appealing for information after a number of houses were attacked in the area last night. Shortly before 8.30pm a group of 6 to 8 males, all wearing hooded tops with scarves covering their faces, forced their way into a house in Coolfin Street. They proceeded to ransack the property, damaging televisions, breaking windows and upturning furniture. One of the men slapped the female occupant of the house on the face as he left. There are no reports of any injuries.
A few minutes later a similar group of males entered another house in Coolfin Street. They again ransacked the house smashing furniture. Graffiti was also sprayed to the side of the front door. Windows of a neighbouring house which was unoccupied were also smashed. There are no reports of any injuries.
Shortly after 8.30pm a group of males then forced their way into a house on the Donegall Road. A small television was thrown through a window and the male occupant was hit on the face causing a small cut to his cheek.
Police are investigating a motive for the incidents which are they believe were carried out by the same group of males and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Musgrave Street on 0845 600 8000.
