Pipe bomb attack, North Belfast
Police in North Belfast are investigating an incident in the Glandore Avenue area last night during which a pipe bomb type device exploded outside a house.
Police were alerted to the explosion shortly after 1am. Officers attending located the device, which had only partially exploded, on the window sill of a property. The window and sill had been badly damaged.
ATO were tasked and a cordon was put in place. A number of surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution and residents were accommodated in a local community centre.
The device has now been removed for further forensic examination.
Police are keen to speak to anyone with information and can be contacted at Grosvenor Road CID offices on 0845 600 8000. Detectives are particularly keen to speak to anyone who spotted two males running away from the area in the direction of Premier Drive.
