Golf Club robbed, Bangor

21 Jun 2010

Detectives in Bangor are appealing for information following a robbery at Carnalea Golf Club this morning. It is understood that a green coloured Mazda 323 car, containing four men wearing high visibility jackets, drove into the car park shortly before 10.30am. The vehicle was then parked in a disabled parking space convenient to the clubhouse.

Two of the men, wearing hats and their faces covered with scarves, entered the clubhouse and made their way to an office where one of the men locked the door and confronted a staff member demanding cash. No weapons were produced. The men then left with a sum of cash and made off in the Mazda car which was found abandoned a short time later at a car park on the Cootehall Road, Crawfordsburn.

The two men who entered the clubhouse are both described as being around 5'10" tall, thin build, both aged in their late twenties. One spoke with what is described as a Belfast accent.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the green coloured Mazda car, registration number JAZ 8020, in the Carnalea or Crawfordsburn areas this morning or anyone with information to contact detectives at Bangor on 0845 600 8000.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
