Arson attack, Abbeyhill Park, Newtownabbey

Detectives in Newtownabbey are appealing for information following an arson attack in the Abbeyhill Park area on Saturday 8 May.

At approximately 5.50am police were made aware that three properties had been damaged by fire.  It's believed the blaze was started deliberately at the rear of one of the houses.

The rear windows at the first house were cracked by the flames and scorch damage was caused to the guttering and facia.  The rear fence was completely destroyed along with the garden shed and its contents.  The oil tank also sustained some damage.  Damage was also caused to the rear of the houses on either side including damage to the garden fences, guttering and facia.

Although there were no reports of any injuries police would stress that this incident had the potential to cause loss of life.  The investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information about this crime to contact them at Newtownabbbey CID on 0845 600 8000.  Alternatively information can be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
