Attempted robbery, West Belfast
04 May 2010
Detectives are appealing for information about an attempted robbery at Springfield Road, West Belfast.
Shortly before 6.50pm on Monday 3 May a female member of staff was inside a betting shop which had closed for the day when two males - one armed with a gun - kicked their way through the front door.
They fled empty-handed, however, as the counter area had been locked up.
The males are described as 5'10 in height and had scarves over their faces. One wore a dark coloured hooded jumper and a baseball cap, and the other wore a white hooded jumper.
The incident took place close to the Springfield Road's junction with the Lower Falls Road.
Police seeking witnesses to the incident would like to speak to a customer - described as an older man - who had tried to enter the shop a short time earlier but did not do so as the shop was closed.
