Distraction burglary, County Down

Detectives are are appealing for information following a distraction burglary at the home of a couple aged in their 80s in the Cabragh Road area of Mayobridge, County Down, on Monday 3 May.

The male occupant of the house was outside at around 11am when he was approached by a man. This man chatted with the occupant for a while before walking off and joining two other males. All three then walked off in the direction of Mayobridge.

The occupant then returned to his home where he discovered that a sum of cash had been taken from a handbag and a bedroom drawer. A female who had been in bed at the time was not injured.

The first of three males involved is described as around 6' tall, of slim build and wearing a grey hooded jumper. This male spoke with a southern accent. The second is understood to have been around 6' tall with blond hair and was wearing jeans with a beige coloured top. The third man is also described as around 6' tall. He is believed to have had dark brown or black hair.

Detectives investigating the incident are keen to speak to witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw these three males or a grey coloured car in the area yesterday morning.
