Drugs charges, West Belfast

22 May 2010

Two men aged 25 and 31 have been charged with a number of drugs offences including possession with intent to supply, possession of Class B drugs and possession of criminal property and will appear at Belfast Laganside court this morning (Saturday 22 May).

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

The charges relate to A Police Service of Northern Ireland Organised Crime Branch operation in West Belfast last night when suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of £110,000 was seized.

Chief Inspector Emma Mooney said she was pleased with the outcome; “The operation and subsequent charges demonstrate the commitment of Police in the West Belfast area to tackle crime and bring criminals to justice.  My officers work hard to make the area a safer place for everyone and I am pleased that their dedication to the community can be acknowledged in such a productive way. “
