Aggravated burglary, Antrim

20 Sep 2010

Detectives are appealing for information following a burglary in the Moneynick Road area of Antrim on Sunday 19 September.

At approximately 7.30pm, a man claiming to be making deliveries called at a house in the area. When a 19-year-old male occupant of the house answered the door, he was confronted by this male who then produced a handgun. He gained access to the house before tying the 19-year-old up with cable ties. Two other masked, armed men also entered the house.

A short time later, a 29-year-old male returned to the house. He was confronted by one of the culprits and ordered to get down on the ground. He was then taken into the bathroom where the other male occupant of the house was tied up. The culprits then demanded money and keys before tying up the second male and leaving the house empty handed.

At approximately 10pm, a female resident of the house returned home and raised the alarm.

The males were not injured but were left shaken by their ordeal.

Detectives are investigating and would appeal to anyone who was in the area and noticed any suspicious activity or anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
