Elderly man burgled Newry

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary of the home of an elderly gentleman in the Clanrye Park area last night (Fri 10 Sept).
Shortly after 10pm as the 79 year old man sat in his living room two youths entered his house and forcibly held him down in the chair while they searched through his clothing. They stole his wallet containing a small sum of money, two bank cards and his savings book before leaving the premises. The elderly gentleman was unhurt but badly shaken by his ordeal.
Anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area last night or who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact detectives at Newry CID on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
