Detectives arrest man following string of armed robberies

Detectives investigating a string of armed robberies across D and H Districts over recent days are now questioning a 27 year old man in connection with the offences.

The first robbery occurred at a supermarket on Greystones Road in Antrim on Sunday 13th November at around 7pm. This was followed by two further robberies that evening at chip shops in Ballyclare.

During the early hours of Monday 14th November an attempt was made to rob a hotel/restaurant on the Ballyclare Road in Newtownabbey.


The following day, Tuesday 15th November, three premises in the Coleraine and Ballymena areas were targeted. A shop on Queen Street in Ballymena was robbed at 6.20pm followed by two chip shops in Coleraine later that evening.

A hammer was used to threaten staff during each robbery.

The 27 year old man was arrested on Wednesday night, 16th November, and will be questioned about all eight incidents.
