Murder of Kevin McAlorum (Renewed Appeal)
09 Jul 2004
Detectives have renewed their appeal for information following the murder of Kevin McAlorum in Dunmurry on Thursday 3 June.
Mr McAlorum was shot and fatally injured as he drove his blue Audi car from Oakwood Integrated Primary School at The Cutts, Dunmurry, shortly before 9am. His car was forced to a stop by a white transit van before two men got out of the van and opened fire. It is believed the men made off from the scene in a blue Nissan Almera which was found a short time later on fire at the rear of Becketts Bar on the Stewartstown Road, Belfast.
In particular, police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Oakwood Integrated Primary School at the Cutts, between 8.15am and 9.15am on Thursday morning 3 June. Also, anyone who was in the area of Becketts Bar on the Stewartstown Road between 8.15am and 9.15am on the same morning is asked to contact police immediately.
Police are also anxious to track the recent movements of the vehicles involved in the murder. Anyone who may have seen:

The white Ford Transit van used in the murder was stolen on the 3 February from a roadwork’s site on the M1 motorway just short of Stockman’s Lane. When stolen it bore the registration number FNZ 2961 and following the murder it was recovered bearing false plates SCZ 4532.
When the van was stolen there was a very distinctive yellow Van Vault toolbox in the back along with a large amount of other tools.

Police are very keen to hear from anyone who has any information about the yellow toolbox which was in the vehicle at the time of theft on 3 February 2004 but not in the vehicle when recovered after the incident. The toolbox is one of only sixty believed to have been sold in Northern Ireland.
Police would ask anyone who has been offered the tool box for sale or knows of its whereabouts now to contact the incident room on 028 9090 1132 or 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
