Murder of Thomas O'Hare and Lisa McClatchey
06 Nov 2006
Detectives investigating the murder of 33 year old Thomas O'Hare and 21 year old Lisa McClatchey have appealed for help in finding their murderers.
The couple were in their home in on Foley Road, near Keady, County Armagh, when up to 6 men entered, and set Thomas, Lisa and the house on fire. The detective leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector David McConville, is determined to find Lisa and Thomas's attackers.
"The attack on Thomas O’Hare and Lisa McClatchey at their home on Foley Road on the evening of Monday 6 November was a ruthless and callous attack on two innocent people. They died as a result of their horrific injuries.
"It has left two families in mourning and the community deeply shocked. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the O’Hare and McClatchey families.
"We are actively seeking to identify those who were involved in the attack. We are following a definite line of enquiry. Four men are in hospital in Dublin and we will want to speak to these men in due course," said the detective.
"One man appeared in court last Monday on charges of withholding information and perverting the course of justice. We are still looking for at least two other individuals in connection with this double murder. As part of our ongoing investigation, which is still in its early stages, I would like to make three key appeals to the public:
- I would appeal for anyone who was in the area of Foley Road, Coolmillish Road, Ballymacnab or the Friary Road area of Armagh on the evening of Monday 6 November or on the Friary Road towards Newtownhamilton between 8.15pm-9.45pm to come forward and speak to us. Please contact the police at Armagh or use the Crimestoppers number.
- I need to speak to anyone who has any information about a dark coloured Vauxhall Vectra car, a Rover 200 series car and a BMW 3-series car in these areas on the evening of Monday 6 November.
- I also need to speak to the driver of a light coloured Renault Megane car, the new model, who was in the area of Foley Road around 9pm on the evening of Monday 6 November."
