Police Investigating Jim McConnell Murder Re-Visit Scene
Police investigating the murder of James McConnell in the Prehen area of Derry last week have revisited the scene in a bid to collect more information.
Thirty eight years-old Mr McConnell was shot by two masked men at his home in Woodland Avenue during the early hours Wednesday 11 February.
It is believed the gunmen left the scene in a small, light coloured vehicle, possibly a Peugeot 106 or 306, which was driven towards the city side. Officers would also like to speak to anyone who noticed a dark coloured Toyota Avensis at the time of the murder.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident or noticed these vehicles driving into or leaving the area to contact them.
Detectives are also keen to speak to people who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area in the days leading up the murder. They would also ask anyone who has any information relating to this murder to contact them at Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000. Information about crime can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
