Update
Detectives investigating the murder of 62 years old Eileen Corrigan, whose body was found at her home in Boyd’s Row, Armagh City, have revisited the scene as part of their enquiries.
Eileen was found dead by a friend on October 6 2008. Police believe she was dead for at least two days before she was found.
A murder investigation was launched and a Post Mortem Examination was carried out. Detectives made an appeal for information, asking members of the public to come forward if they had seen Eileen before Monday October 6.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Debbie McMaster, thanked the community for their assistance:
“We have had a number of calls following our appeal last week and myself and my officers are very pleased with the response, however we still need witnesses to come forward.
“One of our lines of enquiry is that this may have been a burglary or robbery gone wrong that tragically resulted in Eileen’s death,” said the detective.
"Another line of enquiry at this stage is that she may have known the person that killed her, "
“Eileen was a quiet unassuming frail woman who had lost her husband 12 years ago. She had a daughter who lived in England who returned home again following the news of her mother’s death.”
The detective said more enquiries would be made in the Boyd’s Row area, and made another appeal for information:
“If you think you have information which could help police, you can call police on 0845 600 8000 and ask for detectives investing the murder of Eileen Corrigan. Alternatively you can call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111. You do not have to give your name.”
