Murder of Victor Stewart in Middletown, County Armagh

Detectives investigating the discovery of a body at Creevekeeran Road, Middletown, Armagh, have launched a murder enquiry.

45 years old Victor Stewart's body was discovered at his home at 1130am on Wednesday, 22 October 2008.

Detectives from the PSNI Major Investigation Team based at Gough are appealing to anyone who was with Victor in the days before he died to contact them. They are also appealing for anyone who was in the Creevekeeran Road area of Middletown between Sunday and Tuesday to call them on the dedicated incident room number which is 02837517390 or call 0845 600 8000.

Detectives investigating the murder of 45-years-old Victor Stewart from Middletown in County Armagh have revisited the scene of his death as part of their enquiries.

Mr Stewart’s body was discovered at his home on the Creevekeeran Road, Middletown, at 11am on October 22 2008. Detectives believe he was murdered on Monday October 20 2008.

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Gareth Talbot, says his team are appealing for information from the public:

“Police now believe that the motive for the murder was robbery. Our investigation continues, and we need to speak to members of the community in Middletown, or anyone else who was in the areas of Creevekeeran Road, Drumhillery Road and Hanslough Road on Monday, October 20 2008 between 8pm and 12 midnight,” said the detective.

“Anyone who was in that area at that time may have seen or heard something which could be vital to this investigation. If you saw Victor Stewart on Monday 20, tell us if he was alone or was he with another person? Where exactly did you see him? We need you to call us at the dedicated incident room number, 02837 517390 or call 0845 600 8000. Alternatively you can ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

DCI Talbot said there a number of lines of enquiry being investigated, and that community help and assistance, as well as witnesses, would further his enquiries. One man has since been arrested in the Armagh area.
