Monthly bulletins 2012/13

The monthly bulletins available below were previously published on the main crime statistics webpage. Each monthly bulletin includes current financial year figures which are provisional and subject to slight revision until the finalised figures for the full financial year are published. For this reason the totals for each month, crime type, policing district/area and age/gender in previously published monthly bulletins will always be superseded by the latest monthly bulletin.

Previously Published Annual bulletins

Caution should be taken when comparing crime from these time periods with figures from more recent years, particularly figures reported before and after April 1998.  This is due to changes and improvements in crime recording practices and systems over time, and also changes in crime classifications and categories.

In June 2011 the first bulletin covering trends in police recorded crime was published, pulling together figures for each financial year dating back to 1998/99. The crime trends bulletin was the first to present crime figures based on crime classifications which were realigned to match those used by the Home Office for England & Wales. Annual reports published prior to this are based on the previous crime classifications in place at the time they were published. While small changes were experienced at the level of individual classifications due to the realignment, overall crime figures at a Northern Ireland level, as well as those for each policing district and policing area, do not differ from totals previously published.

Prior to 2002/03, recorded crime statistics were published in the annual Report of the Chief Constable. These reports were published in calendar year format from 1968 until1997.  Since then, reports have been based on financial years (April to March).  Scanned images of the relevant crime tables from these reports, dating from 1968 until 2001/02, have been made available via the links below.

Further information on the changes and improvements in recording practices, systems and classifications can be found in the User Guide to Police Recorded Crime Statistics in Northern Ireland (PDF, 410.0 KB)opens new window.
