Police Involvement With Young People
Youth Independent Advisory Group
Youth independent advisory groups allow young people to consult with police on matters that affect them.
Prince’s Trust
The Prince’s Trust run programmes to enable unemployed young people to develop their confidence, motivation and communication skills. A full-time commitment is required from participants and projects focus on Teamwork within the local community. If you are interested in participating, courses run in September, January and May.
Youth Diversion
The Youth Diversion Scheme provides a restorative framework for police to deal with children and young people under 18 years who come to their attention for:
- Non-offence, risk taking behaviour
- Are involved in offending or anti-social behaviour
- Are at risk in terms of their safety or well-being
The Police Service will work in partnership with other key agencies, the business sector and the community, through the use of restorative interventions, to help a child or young person to understand the consequences of their behaviour, the impact on others, and to encourage them to take responsibility for their actions.
