Bank Robbery, Queen Street, Warrenpoint
21 Nov 2009
Detectives investigating a robbery at a bank in Warrenpoint are appealing for witnesses and information.
Shortly before 5pm on Friday, 20 November, as staff were preparing to leave the premises at Queen Street, masked males smashed a window and forced their way in.
The robbers, who were possibly armed with knives, removed a substantial sum of money from the premises and made off in a silver coloured car.
A silver Opel Astra, found burnt out at Moygannon Court in Warrenpoint a short time later, is believed to have been used by the robbers.
Three female members of staff who were in the bank at the time were not physically injured.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Queen Street or Moygannon Court areas and saw the silver car, its occupants or any other suspicious activity. Information can be given to detectives by calling 0845 600 8000. Alternatively the Crimestoppers charity can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
