12 May 2010

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a hijacking in South Belfast earlier today.

Shortly after midday police received a report that a woman had been pulled from her silver BMW car in the Apollo Road area. The male hijacker then made off in the car.

As the BMW travelled along Apollo Road, it collided with a parked car. This vehicle inturn struck another car. The hijacker then ran from the BMW in the direction of Boucher Crescent. It's believed he then got into a waiting grey coloured Toyota Yaris, possibly displaying R plates.

The hijacker is described as between 5'10 and 6' tall of a heavy build with dirty fair hair. He was wearing a grey/white hooded top with a bright green t-shirt underneath and trainers.

Anyone who was in the area and who can assist police with their enquiries is asked to contact Musgrave Street CID on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively the Crimestoppers charity can be contacted anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
