Robbery, Lurgan

19 Feb 2010

Detectives are appealing for information about the robbery of a cash-in-transit van in Lurgan, County Armagh.

Just after 1pm on Friday 19 February it was reported that a man carrying what appeared to be a handgun had approached the vehicle when it was making a delivery at Derrymacash Road. A female member of delivery staff was forced to hand over cash. There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.

Initial enquiries suggest that the thief used a VW Golf car to make his escape. A sum of cash in a cash box was stolen.

The man is described as 5'7, slight build, wearing a dark hooded jumper. It is believed that at least one other male was involved.

The car was found a short time later in a laneway off Kinnego Embankment Road.
