Three men charged by Serious Crime Branch

Detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch who have taken over an investigation from the Historical Enquiries Team into a series of murders and other crimes by the UVF in North Belfast, County Antrim,  have charged three men.

The men have been charged with a number offences in connection with a pipe bomb attack on a house in Larne, County Antrim in 2003.

A 62 years old was charged with conspiracy to intimidate a witness, and membership of a proscribed organisation, namely the UVF.

A 40 years old was charged with conspiracy to intimidate a witness, conspiracy to cause an explosion and membership of a proscribed organisation, namely the UVF.

A 32 years old was charged with possession of explosives with intent, causing an explosion, attempted intimidation and membership of a proscribed organisation, namely the UVF.

A fourth man who is 28 years old was released pending reports to the Public Prosecution Service.
