Serious sexual assault appeal

Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for information following a report of a serious sexual assault .

Police received a report that a 19 year old female was sexually assaulted between Sunday, 6th June and Monday, 7th June.

It was reported that the assault occurred in a car somewhere between Coleraine and Belfast and the female was abandoned on a country road. It is believed the female was then given a lift by a lorry driver who dropped her off in the Crumlin Road area of Belfast around 7am on Monday morning, 7 June. It is also thought that a female passerby stopped to speak to the girl and also spoke to the girl's mother on her mobile phone.

Police are appealing to the lorry driver and the female passerby to contact detectives directly on 028 2566 7214.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may have information in relation to this incident.
