Assistant Chief Constable Alan Todd is responsible for the Justice Department, encompassing Legacy and Disclosure Branch, Criminal Justice Branch, Contact Management, Custody Policy, and Justice Healthcare.

Alan has over 30 years’ experience in policing, with roles inluding Assistant Chief Constable responsible for District Policing, ACC for Rural Region and ACC for Operational Support Department. He has previously been District Commander for the area covering Newry, Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon, as well Chief Superintendent in District Policing Command at Headquarters.

Alan was responsible for all aspects of the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s response to Covid-19 and has previously been the lead officer for many policing major events including; the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the visit of King Charles, The Open Championship, G8, the Giro d'Italia, commanding the police operation in respect of the Olympic Torch Run, co-coordinating border policing with An Garda Síochána, as well as transforming the Police Service's contact management business area. He is also the UK National Lead for Contact Management, is chair of the national 999/112 Liaison Committee and on the board of directors of the Police Digital Service.
