As part of the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s ongoing commitment to improving the service it provides to the firearm community, Firearms and Explosives Branch have introduced a number of new online processses. From 14 June 2018 three new processes transitioned to online:
- Change of Address
- European Firearms Pass
In addition, anyone applying for an initial grant, re-grant and /or variation of a firearm certificate from 9 July 2018 will be able to complete the application form online only. You can access these application forms on either the PSNI website www.psni.pnn.police.uk or the NI Direct website www.nidirect.gov.uk/
The new application method reduces the requirement for manual entry of data and payment by cheque/postal order which in turn will allow us to process the applications more efficiently and effectively.
We have developed a short film which shows a summary of the online process. It can viewed here on https://www.youtube.com/watch?
We have developed detailed guidelines, see Guidance Notes on the right of this page, which will assist the applicant when completing their online application form. In addition, we have provided a significant number of laptops to Firearms Dealers and Target Clubs which in turn will enable Firearm Certificate Holders to complete the online application while on their premises. Each of these locations will facilitate the FAC Holder with access to a computer system and the online application forms. Please see our Firearms webpage for further details or click here.
