Security Branch is responsible for:
- Providing personal security advice to police officers and staff, and members of the public who have been threatened or intimidated. The Branch manages the various measures available to those under threat.
- Ensuring the police estate has the necessary physical security in place to keep our people and assets safe. On behalf of the Chief Constable, the Branch manages the completion of the Annual Certificate of Security Assurance. It is through this process that the organisation identifies any physical security issues it needs to address. We also undertake security inspections: these are unannounced visits to police stations and Headquarters sites that test our internal security regimes.
- Providing counter terrorism security advice to businesses and places at risk. This work is carried out in conjunction with the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) and is designed to combat International and domestic terrorism.
