Liz Young heads up the PSNI Corporate Communications Department with responsibility for developing and managing delivery of the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s marketing, external engagement, digital communications, media relations, internal communications and public relations strategies.
Liz has developed communications strategies to support most of Northern Ireland’s biggest events, including Royal visits, the Irish Open, the MTV Awards, the 2013 UK City of Culture, the G8 Summit in Enniskillen and the London 2012 Torch Run. Liz is also the organisational Communications lead on all Gold operations and critical incidents.
As Head of Corporate Communications for the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Liz is a member of the organisation’s Senior Executive Team and advises the Chief Constable and Senior Executive Team on Public Relations and Media issues.
As a member of the National Police Chief Councils Communications Advisory Group, Liz is responsible for working with and supporting the heads of police forces across the UK on communication policy and practice, and advising on strategic communications issues impacting on UK policing.
Liz has a Diploma in Direct Marketing and is currently a member of the Chartered Institute of PR and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Prior to joining PSNI Liz worked in senior communications and engagement roles for a number of organisations at the heart of Northern Ireland public life including NI Water, Open & Direct and Ulster Bank.
