Temporary Assistant Chief Constable George Clarke began his policing career in 1994 and has served in a range of posts across Northern Ireland in both uniform and detective roles.
In 2011 he was promoted to Chief Superintendent and served as the Head of the Professional Standards Department. From 2012 to 2014 he was the District Commander for North and West Belfast.
In 2014 he was appointed as Head of Public Protection in which role he led the PSNI response to Domestic Abuse offences, serious sexual offences including Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Internet Protection and crimes against vulnerable adults.
In 2018 he passed the Police National Assessment Centre and successfully attended the Strategic Command Course.
In June 2018 he was appointed T/ACC with responsibility for Legacy and Legal matters.
He has a BSSc (Hons) in Information Management from QUB, a MSC in Community safety from the University of Leicester and a MSt in Police Leadership and Applied Criminology from Cambridge University
