Over 3,000 people have already applied to join the Police Service of Northern Ireland since it launched its recent Student Officer Recruitment campaign on Wednesday, 22nd January.

The closing date for applications is 3pm on Wednesday, 12th February and Deputy Chief Constable Bobby Singleton encourages anyone considering policing as a career to submit their applications.

Deputy Chief Constable Bobby Singleton said: “Throughout our three-week campaign, we have held numerous engagement events and discussed policing as a career in communities across Northern Ireland.

“To anyone thinking of a career in policing, I’d really encourage you to take that step and submit your application. To the families and friends of anyone thinking of applying, please get behind them and offer support on the first step of their policing journey”.

Deputy Chief Constable Bobby Singleton continued: “Being a police officer is a challenging, exciting and rewarding career – one that you can be proud of. Proud because you can really make a positive difference. We see this everyday through the work of our officers across Northern Ireland who are working tirelessly to protect people, and the communities they serve.”

New student officers will embark on a 22-week training programme and the starting salary on appointment is £34,000.
