Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a recent attempted burglary in Banbridge.

Police received a report shortly after 7pm on Tuesday, 16th January of an attempted break-in at a house in the Fort Street area of the town.

Detective Sergeant Stewart said: “We believe this occurred sometime between 6.45pm and shortly before the report was made to police.

“Damage was caused to a window at the back of the house. However, at this stage we believe nothing was stolen and potentially the suspect was disturbed.

“A woman, who was inside the house at the time of the report, was left shaken by what happened.

“Our investigation is ongoing - with enquiries continuing. We would be especially keen to hear from anyone who may have noticed a man, aged in his mid-20s, of slim build and wearing a dark tracksuit in the area around the time of the report.

“Anyone with any information including dash-cam, mobile or CCTV footage of the area, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity between 6.45pm on Tuesday, 16th January can contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1580 16/01/24.”
