Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a kidnapping and assault in south Belfast last night, Thursday 22nd February.
Detective Sergeant McCartan said: "We received a report shortly after 7am today, Friday, that a man, aged in his 30s, who was travelling in a car in the Castlecoole Park area was stopped by two other cars sometime between 11pm and 12am last night, Thursday.
“Two masked men then pulled him out of his car and forced him into a silver car, before driving him to Belvoir Forest car park. The men then assaulted him with a hammer, punching and kicking him. The suspects left and the man walked back to his car. The man sustained injuries to his face and arms.
"We have launched an investigation into this incident and detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Castlecoole Park or wider Belvoir area between 11pm and 12am last night and saw anything which could assist us.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have any relevant dash-cam, CCTV or other video footage. The number to call is 101, quoting reference 201 of 23/02/24."
