Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Organised Crime Branch have acknowledged the sentencing of 40-year-old Gary Moore on Tuesday, 6th December.

Mr Moore, from the Ballynahinch area, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years at Belfast Crown Court, sitting in Craigavon Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to attempted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He will serve two years and nine months in custody and the remaining two years and nine months on licence.

Detective Constable Quinn said: “On 15th November 2019 in the Amelia Street area of south Belfast, Mr Moore was the perpetrator of a serious assault. He struck another man to the head with a glass bottle, causing lacerations to his head and face.

“Detectives welcome the sentence handed down to Mr Moore as it reassures victims of crime that the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Public Prosecution Service and the Courts Service treat these matters with seriousness and perpetrators of such crimes can expect to be held to account.”
