Police have arrested a man in connection with a serious assault in north Belfast.

Inspector Irwin said: “We received a report at approximately 10.40pm on Monday, 31st March of a fight in the Wheatfield Drive area.

“It’s understood the altercation started at a nearby property and continued onto the street.

“Officers attended the scene, and a man who had sustained serious facial injuries was located nearby.

“He required hospital treatment for his injures – and is in a stable condition.

“A second man, aged 23, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and other offences, he remains in custody at this time as enquiries continue.

“Our enquiries are continuing today, and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Wheatfield Drive area yesterday between 10.15pm and 10.40pm and noticed the altercation.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have any relevant dash-cam, CCTV or other video footage of the area during these times. Please call us on our non-emergency 101 number quoting reference number 2060 31/03/25.”
